Orion's Model 1136 was custom designed specifically for use in the AN/PSS-14 hand held mine detector cost reduced platform. The 1136 provides customer defined features such as extended temperature and rugged design suitable for harsh environments, a heat spreader for conduction cooling, various serial and USB ports and a cool-running 500MHz AMD Geode LX800.

A full test suite was also developed by Orion to ensure full functionality and reliability. The test suite is a combination of custom hardware and software that tests up to twenty 1136s simultaneously. Custom software controls the environmental chamber, monitors each board's progress and automatically logs the results by board serial number.
